Hanging Out in the Unknown
STAR Foundation Newsletter
Dear STAR Friends,
“To make God laugh, tell Him (Her) your plans.” None of the past year has fit any of my plans so there must be laughter in Heaven! So, don’t ask me where I’ll be, when, with whom, why or what. Even where I’ll be living is in question. Hanging out in the unknown without becoming indifferent or rushing to fill in space with something, anything, isn’t easy or fun. Sometimes I can get excited about the possibilities and there are times when I feel peaceful just where I am and how things are. It helps to be sitting here on the California coast watching the white seals laze around on the rocks. Running with my dogs on the beach is also fun. There is much in life to enjoy—many of them simple, like dogs, and sunshine, and surf.
In spite of living in the moment and hanging out in mystery, I do have short term plans. I’ll be in Atlanta July 25 to go to some of the Olympic events thanks to some STAR people in Georgia! Between that and the beginning of August STAR I’ll go to Washington and spend a few days with my daughter, Lisa. Her surgery was more extensive than we expected. As a result, her recovery has been slow and difficult. Thankfully, she is making good progress. She may be able to ski next year.
Crisis has offered me an opportunity to get down to what really does matter and what is the purpose of my life and work. It’s not complicated and that is reassuring considering how very complicated and confusing things have been in my outer world. Being of service in healing hearts, minds and lives, including my own, doesn’t depend on where I’m living or working. I do believe in guidance but patience is not one of my long suits, so hanging out in mystery is difficult. I’m practicing living in this moment and looking for what is good and beautiful.
May each one of you find some peaceful moments in whatever is going on in your life. Try going into nature and seeing beauty around you. I think I’ll go down to the beach now and watch the dogs and the seals! Hope you are having a pleasant restful summer.
Lovingly,
Barbara
