Our First Electronic Newsletter

STAR Foundation Newsletter

Dear STAR Friends,

Welcome to our very first “electronic” newsletter. We want to keep in touch with you.

I am on a steep learning curve adapting to the high-tech 21st Century. I have avoided Face Book and Twitter and Blogging like The Plague. More time sitting at the computer? No thank you! STAR staff members have finally convinced me that I need to “get with it.” I am working on it. My intention is to upgrade our communicating and marketing skills without losing our basic on-going respect for each individual’s unique healing journey. Your ideas and support are much appreciated. I now have a Blog, http://www.becoming-authentic.com. I do not think I am in danger of becoming a real “techie”. Recent research reveals that our brains are social organs and I haven’t yet experienced much heart connection with a computer. I’d rather hang out with a feeling warm human being!

I recently watched Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is amazing to think it was completed in 1968. The characters had small rectangular hand held cameras in the film. We didn’t even have computers or cell phones or IPods in the 60’s. Baby Boomers were out in the streets protesting; now the protests are on-line! I wonder if anyone pays much attention – not so good for TV coverage! I recalled excerpts from 2001: Space Odyssey: “...with eyes that already held more than human intentness, the baby stared into the depths of the crystal monolith, seeing - but not yet understanding - the mysteries that lay beyond…there before him, a glittering toy no Star-Child could resist, floated the planet Earth with all its peoples.”

When the baby in the womb floated on the film screen I listened for these passages in the movie. They were not present. I remembered the dialogue was from the book version.

Once we were each floating in a watery world like the Star-Child. In the book it’s written, “He had returned in time.” I hope you remember and tap into your inner resources and keep returning to your Essential Being.

It is an amazing movie – worth the time to watch again and observe what was in someone’s imagination way before it was a part of our daily life in 2009.

This Fall I traveled to Vancouver to the Peace Conference with his Holiness The Dalai Lama. British Columbia is such a beautiful area. I also traveled to California several times, Nashville and New York. I am so blessed to have STAR connections in all those places and many more. I always feel welcome and look forward to hanging out with STAR’s! When I count my blessings, people are always at the top of my list. Since gratitude is healing for the limbic system, remember it every day. When we have fallen into a hole, it is even more important. It is like taking vitamin pills for mental health. Always on hand and very inexpensive too.

We are gearing up for our annual “New Year’s Celebrate Your Life” workshop at Kenyon Ranch. It is such a gift to have the venerable Phagyab Rinpoche with us for this event. He reminds me of the possibility of fully living every day in an attitude of compassion and joy.

May the holiday season bring you both compassion and joy. You’ll be hearing from us every month! Stay tuned…..

In terms of high-tech I guess it’s not “stay tuned” anymore, but rather “stay connected.” Whichever, we are here.

Love,

Barbara
