Dear STAR Friends,

I am here at Pocket Sanctuary in southern Arizona. I am surprised at how beautiful the desert is, especially during this monsoon season. The afternoon storms, the sky, the mountains are glorious. There is also something that seems to be in the air. Maybe it is the sense of vastness and space. Maybe it is just the lack of traffic!

Thanks to the help of many STAR grads, we are making progress. The rooms are gradually becoming usable. Some even now have heat and air conditioning, thanks to Chip Weldon from Atlanta. This is quite a project! A lot of work, and yet it is exciting and fun to be working with a team manifesting a dream.

STAR in Northern California at Brooktrails Lodge is doing well. Every time I lead a group, I am once again reminded of the power of the human spirit to transcend and transform. Each time I also despair at lack of good parenting and safety in the lives of so many children. Healing those early wounds and restoring genuine self-worth, gentle appreciation of, and loving acceptance for the wounded child within is the purpose of STAR. Undoing negative conditioning, old guilts, and fears is a challenge and takes years. The first step may be knowing we are worth the effort and that transformation is definitely possible.

A vision of mine is to ensure that all children are wanted and born into loving families where they are accepted for themselves and seen as unique miracles to be cherished. Wouldn’t it be incredible if we shifted our paradigm and put our money where are mouths are to make our children our most valuable asset? When that happens, we won’t need STAR anymore. Until then, our work is cut out for us, one person at a time.

Thank you for your support. May you find pauses in your busy lives to remember who you are and consider the possibilities!

Love,

Barbara
