Our Retreat Center

STAR retreats take place at Kenyon Ranch, a safe and private retreat center located 45 minutes outside of Tucson, Arizona, nestled between the beautiful Santa Rita and Tumacacori mountain ranges. The Ranch sits at an altitude of 3,400 feet and looks over the lovely Santa Cruz Valley.

Kenyon Ranch is fully air-conditioned and heated. In the summer, temperatures at the Ranch are much cooler than in other parts of Arizona due to the elevation above sea level. The monsoon season, which begins in July, cools the area even more and provides visitors with Mother Nature's exciting lightning shows, brief desert thunderstorms and flowering plants in full bloom.

Amenities include a solar-heated swimming pool, a hot tub, meditation gardens, walking and hiking trails adjacent to the property, a labyrinth, and reflecting koi pond.

Kenyon Ranch offers STAR participants a serene, safe, and comfortable environment which invites focused and transformative work.

Participants will stay in one of 17 charming casitas, all of which are fully air-conditioned and heated. Most rooms have private baths, while a few have connecting baths. The rooms were constructed in the 1930's with stone quarried from the property and wood beam ceilings. All of the casitas have been fully renovated and updated.

Each room is unique and comfortably decorated. The casitas are situated around inviting patio areas called ramadas, which are open to the warm sun. Meditation gardens, beautiful vistas, a labyrinth, and the ramadas all offer quiet places for relaxation and contemplation.

The Ranch has an extraordinary chef named Alicia Hernandez, who is a native of Mexico. She was brought up in a family that loved to cook, and her culinary ambitions began in her early childhood. Alicia graduated from the Pima Culinary institute, and her menus reflect her knowledge of food and diet, her decades of experience and her Mexican and Italian heritage.

The cuisine at the ranch is consistently excellent, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Menus vary and usually include poultry, meat or fish as an entrée-- as well as vegetarian options. The chef is fully apprised in advance of any allergies or other dietary restrictions you may have in order to assure that all of your dietary needs will be met. Kenyon Ranch tries to provide Organic foods as much as possible but does not offer totally organic meals. For an additional $10.00 per day we can provide gluten-free and vegan diets.

While STAR is in session, there are several body workers (massage therapists) available for massage therapy. We believe that paying attention to the body is an indispensable part of the healing process, so we encourage each participant to schedule bodywork during STAR. Massage therapy helps maintain body awareness, assists in the release of emotions which are stored within the body, relieves aching muscles and joints, increases freedom of movement, and helps to achieve a more balanced sense of self. Please note that there is an additional charge for this service.

In addition, the Ranch offers a fully equipped and complimentary laundry room, large beach towels for the pool area, and unlimited complimentary snacks, fruit, soft drinks and bottled water. It also provides shampoo, conditioner, soap, and all bedding necessities. There is also a well-stocked art room which is available for use at any time, a sand tray therapy room and a participant's lounge for congregating between group and individual sessions.
